What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Do you need help sorting out a fair financial settlement?

Our consultant service offers expert advice and support to help you reach agreement on a fair financial settlement quickly, and for less than a quarter of the cost of using a traditional high street solicitor.

Hello all,

I thought I ought to introduce myself, I am going through a reletively civilised divorce, insomuch as it is non contested and he is totally uninterested in the children so not bothered about access etc.

My partner is not so "lucky" and mostly I suspect I will post on his behalf. He is acting as LiP and applying for SRO but ex is violently opposed to - well pretty much anything we suggest.

Civilized? Divorce? Same sentence? WOW!

Hopefully you and your partner will find answers to many questions here. Don't be afraid to ask or stick your nose in the chatroom. Most don't bite :woohoo:
Catch you around

Hi Claire, and welcome.

What is this "civilized divorce" of which you speak??

Hope we can all help your partner with the unreasonableness - there is a lot of experience with that here, unfortunately!

Hi Claire
Not so much advice for your partener but about your kds relationship with their dad...The reason I ask is that since I left my x2b (june 07) he has seen them x2, the last time was august 07
He dosent phone or answer emails or calls
I fnd this so hard to deal with ,(the kids arent bothered) and have searched for answers to why he is behaving in this manner
He waz an ok dad, he is highly intelligent and deemed as a decent guy (if they only new)
So if you can shed any light on the miind works of these men who dont want to know their kids I will be gratefull
good luck with your other quest ...looby
