What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi All - my X2B received a letter from my solicitor, via his, asking that he refrain from harrassing me and to respect my privacy and personal space.
He will not move out and is making life very difficult here by almost trying to be the "Hubbie and Father" he has never been over the past 25 years. Unfortunately, his gestures are too little too late and its even more odd that its him that has decided to issue against me. Its like he is almost wanting me to beg him to stop the divorce proceedings and for us to try and make a go of things again.
I really am getting fed up and no divorce petition has been issued et by him. I have spoken to my solicitor and told her that I dont want things to drag on waiting for him and that unless he issues soon I will be issuing a Divorce Petition. Keep thinking about the life I will have without him which is currently keeping me sane and on track.
Oh woe is me mode today.

Hi Gingerkitty,
don't wait for him, take control, you will be in the stronger position if you instigate the proceedings. Its your life grab it back and show him you have the right to chose your own life and will decide how and when.
Good luck, be brave and confident you are doing the right thing
