What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Do you need help sorting out a fair financial settlement?

Our consultant service offers expert advice and support to help you reach agreement on a fair financial settlement quickly, and for less than a quarter of the cost of using a traditional high street solicitor.

I have started a blog-mainly to try + get all my frustration + upset out.I think I may be getting on the nerves of my friends!! They keep saying they are really proud of me for finally taking steps to get rid of bastard, but I love(d) him.
I'm lonely on my own + its only been a few weeks.
I'm shocked at how quickly my stbx has turned into this vindictive sly person-I have obviously offended him by officially registering my disgust at his behaviour!!
I'm a legal system virgin + I am naturally very trusting. I am aware I am going to have to wise up.
Any advice + tips would be gratefully appreciated by you guys + girls who have already trodden the path I am embarking on x

Donnylass,
You are amongst friends here. We all know how much we have prattled on to friends and family about our situations and watched their eyes start to glaze over, but unless you have been there, you have no idea of the pain and hurt. Looking around at other people's stories, you realise that sometimes others have endured even greater misery than ourselves and find inspiration from the experience of others. Whatever else, you will find some very supportive, experienced and understanding people here - Welcome to Wikivorce.

Hi Donnylass
You will find this site an invaluable source of information and support. Also dont be afraid of seeing a Counsellor (through your GP or independently) - I have found counselling very helpful - and very importantly it gives an outlet other than friends & family.
You will find in time that you will get stronger and be able to move forward!
Andy
