What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I apologise to anyone who may feel confused by this thread but I felt it necessary to remove my post for various reasons some of which were personal.

My God, you''ve been through the ringer! Your email is a mystery to me as I have JUST started my legal training so getting to grips with the basics (I have found the legal concept of equity very interesting as it doesn''t always appear to be apparent in rulings does it? According to The Earl of Oxfords case [1615] (I''m showing off now!) "where there is a conflict between common law and equity, equity should prevail". Perhaps I should copy that particular page of my reference book and send it to some of our esteemed judges!

Anyway, good luck and I do hope that things eventually get resolved for you so that you can move on to a happier life in the future. You never think it will end this way when you''re choosing your wedding bouquet, do you?

Best wishes
