What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I don''t understand why you came on this forum asking for guidance when you seem to have all the answers. What you present with is a self fullfilling prophecy.

People have presented you with the options available to you given the situation you outlined, you are choosing not to avail yourself of them for your own reasons.

Not much more to be said really.

The answers are from the posts made by others eariler in this thread. As hawaythelads the lads said Women keep the kids and the house. Men pay for it. Others have told me of my unrealistic expectations re the split of the house.

See above.

Yep and Pete is usually spot on too :-)

Of course the situation with regard to an equity split might be different if you were the PWC...

If you really wanted to change the situation, you would.

Hi
Its probably an opportune moment to remind forum members that we are here to support each other and not pass personal judgments on the character of other forum members. If you are unable to post something supportive or factual relating to the original poster its probably best not to post on this thread

Yes I agree and apologies if I appear a little ''short'' !

Might I also gently suggest that new posters be mindful of asking a question if they aren''t prepared to get an answer they don''t like ! See Palermo''s response to being told he is unlikely to get a 50% equity split !
