What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Do you need help sorting out a fair financial settlement?

Our consultant service offers expert advice and support to help you reach agreement on a fair financial settlement quickly, and for less than a quarter of the cost of using a traditional high street solicitor.

Hi, was recommended this site by a friend from work, what a great place it is to find out so much information, who''d have thought one website could contain so much. I shall visit here often I am sure.

Been living separate lives under same roof for a year now, he served divorce petition on me but nothing seems to be moving in the right direction, had one solicitor but couldnt afford to maintain, now applying for legal aid but the process is a slow one.

Look forward to meeting like minded souls on here B)

Hi I joined this weekend, it has made me realise so many things and the support has been tremendous.

I too am still living in same premises but last week moved into separate area of house. I have done this before (six months+) about two years ago but have decided to do so again (permanent this time as I am finished with trying to keep it going).

Hope you get things sorted soon.

Was the petition a shock to you? Many forum members seem to have been unaware that anything was wrong but my OH and I have been aware that this marriage was down the tubes years ago....just not taken it to its end yet.

Hiya, sounds like we are in very similar boats! Like me, you are fortunate to have your own area of the house, we just have a standard semi but we had it extended quite extensively so we are not literally living on top of each other. Friends can''t understand how I stand it, but when you have three kids you can''t just up sticks and leave. Do you have children?

Being served wasn''t a shock to me, he''d told me he was going to, we''d lived separate lives for around 8 months then so I was glad to get things moving, the fact that it seems I have to pay for it was a shock tho, I should have got in first I guess as I could so easily have sited his unreasonable behaviour.

I find this site is excellent for clarification, well meaning friends and family all have advice but every case is different, so it''s nice to come somewhere like this to get things straight.

Have a good day :)
