What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I''m new here too.
I also left my mentally abusive, controlling husband and he is still trying to control me via the divorce.
Thankfully there were no children involved in my case.
Deciding to leave takes guts and I know I wanted to leave a full 2 years before I did!
Be kind to yourself.

Thank you. Yes, I am still feeling that although I have left my husband and have literally just started the divorce that he is still very much in control. He is trying to call the shots all the time and dictate to me about what is going to happen with the house and my belongings that are still in the house. (Thankfully I have most of my stuff but some stuff still there).
It''s great to get some support so thank you again to everyone! x
