What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi, I''m new to this forum, I''m KazzyG, I''ve been going through a divorce for two years now and I am the Petitioner but the ''husband'' is continuing to put as many obstacles in the way as possible. He is now trying to halt financial settlement as he wants me and the children out of the house. He lives away all week and comes here Fri - Mon to do washing and use all the facilities in the house but refuses to pay. He wont attend mediation anymore and I am just at my wits end. He has threatened, verbally abused and mentally drained myself and our two children (14 and 11) who are just as frustrated and fed up with all of this as I am. My original solicitor messed up so much that it resulted in me not being able to gain legal aid and I am now without any legal representation, hence his behaviour no dooubt! If anyone is in a similar situation, would be good to talk! He also has a court order against him preventing any further abuse, however, he attacked our eldes two weeks ago and it''s being investigated (albeit with the pace of a tortoise) and he is still here in the house at weekends, making the atmosphere unbearable! Anyway, hi to everyone and hope that you aren''t having as much hassle as me!! :(
