What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi. My wife and I have been separated for 5 years now. She lives in England and I live in France. I would intend to use this as the grounds for divorce. Our relationship broke down because of her psychiatric problems which have since got worse. She cannot work. I''m worried about how to reach some kind of settlement through mediation as I think direct communication is going to be very difficult. Also some assets like the house are in France. I have tried looking for Anglo French solicitors with little success. Would anyone have some advice on this or have experience of cross border divorce/financial settlement?

Many thanks
