What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

This is my first time plucking up the courage to reach out for support. He left four months ago and to my surprise I started divorce proceedings. If I''d have been told six months ago this is where I''d be I would not have thought it possible. What hits me the most is the FIRSTS! First holiday just me and kids. First anniversary date and worst of all to date is my sons birthday tomorrow! What makes it really hard for us all is we haven''t seen him since he left. He''s not been in touch with the kids at all!! Some days I''m strong and others... well you know

Hi welcome to this site, yes going thru all the firsts is hard but you seem to be managing, its amazing what strength we find! Him not having contact with kids is a common story ,they seem to forget having parental responsibility( that doesnt include the men on this site). its hard but talking to like minded people helps.

Welcome to the site, every first will make you stronger. And while some firsts are painful, some firsts are great ones to cherish, some make you feel proud once you''ve done them.
Happy birthday to your son xx

I have a smile on my face. For that thankyou. I don''t feel alone. I hope I can become a stronger person. I feel like an empty shell. And I need to do something about it.
