I''ve just been listening to the local radio who are giving away a cash prize of £20k which they say is the cost of a luxury wedding. Heck!

It just got me thinking how much my wedding cost against the cost of my divorce!

Wedding cost (although 25 years ago) £2k - divorce cost up-to-date £24k

Anyone else found it''s cheaper to marry than divorce??

I did have a beautiful wedding got married in a cathedral...really lovely reception which was 21 years ago but around 10k I would guess...my divorce was less but still a huge price to bear.
Makes you think twice to ever doing it again.

I had a really cheap wedding £1,000 34 years ago and I''m hoping the divorce is going to be equally cheap - it''s going well so far.
I''m ready to do it again should anyone ask.

Not divorced yet, but wedding was very cheap - register office fee (£25?); dress £40; Mum paid for the restaurant lunch afterwards and in-laws paid for the champagne. We''d booked our holiday before the wedding, so that was our honeymoon.

I had this same thought about a year ago and wrote a blog post here titled ''cost benefit analysis''. At that time I worked out that the divorce cost (layer''s bills) had already amounted to approx 10 x wedding cost (his) and five times (mine). Since then costs have only escalated, and we are not divorced yet!

Shocking and depressing.
