What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

My ex tried to reconcile with me from July when I chucked him out until January 22nd (that was the last time he asked).

He''d introduced the kids to Lisa early December and my kids thought they were boyfriend and girlfriend as my daughter saw a picture of them together. He denied it and continued to do so and ask me back every now and again - never all that sincerely so relieved I trusted my instincts.

So, after I flatly refused in January and was quite harsh, finally, he got the message. 2 weeks later he confirmed he was indeed seeing Lisa but it was early days. 2 weeks after that the kids came home and told me they were moving in together. I have since found out from family/friends they were together at least since early October.

I will never understand why he thought it ok to keep asking me back when he was already sleeping with someone else, it totally disgusts me. I''ve come out of the financial side ok probably cos of his guilt, but I feel just the same Haway and doubt I''d ever marry again.
