What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Is my stbx cheating to get legal aid and if so what do I do?

My wonderful ex is getting legal aid. BUT his partner owns her own house - outright no mortgage. I thought this should be taken into account?

Quick question: why should it bother you that he is receiving legal aid?

If he is not entitled to it. The authorities will eventually find out and he will be in hot water.

And presumably his is not married to his np so her house doesn't figure - it's hers, not his.

Qualification for legal aid is in the main based upon your income.

Not your assets....and certainly not someone else's assets.

So his new partner having a house will not count against him getting legal aid.
