What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Do you need help sorting out a fair financial settlement?

Our consultant service offers expert advice and support to help you reach agreement on a fair financial settlement quickly, and for less than a quarter of the cost of using a traditional high street solicitor.

Separated 3 years, divorced for 3 months.

I have paid mortgage, gas, electric, insurances since we separated. Also send money for children. I rent a room.

3 children, 16, 14, 11 - I don't see them.

Ex wife does not work - has benefits. We don't communicate.

Some savings

Thinking about Mesher agreement on house, but would prefer to give her the house and try for Clean Break (unlikely I think)

Anyone offer advice.:S

Got the absolute (which I must admit surprised me) without a settlement. I need to get up to speed with the acronyms.

Can't have a Clean Break with children - child maintenance is separate. Will always have to pay that.

Clean Break from spouse - no spousal maintenance - is possible.

You need to post up a lot more detail for someone to make a suggestion.

Your income
Her Income

Value of House
Outstanding Mortgage

Your pension
Her pension

Any significant assets over £500
Any debt - joint or individual

Any savings
