What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi dukey,

This is a new company that has been set up in the UK. He had another briefly that was based in Malta but I think that may be dissolved now although they both have the same name. before that he was working through agencies.

I believe that he is a director of the company. I also believe that he will contest custody of the children despite having worked overseas for the last 7 years and only seeing them at weekends.

I believe that he has taken legal advice on how to proceed and that he came back to 'reconcile' under false pretenses. Meanwhile he has been moving all his things out of the marital home week by week, locked down all access to the finances apart from the joint account, locked me out of the financial planning software, had all his post redirected, taken or shredded statements/paperwork, bought a new computer and wiped all his files from both etc etc.

Thanks for your help and advice
