What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

First thing you need to do my lovely is to apply for any benefits you are entitled to. This will at least provide you with an income to feed your children and to pay your bills.

You can then sort out the nitty gritty with your ex.

Priorities are that you, as a single parent, are entitled to some benefits. Claim them as soon as possible.

OMG, what the hell is he playing at?

Are you able to contact him?

Initially, do you have any family you could borrow some money from?

You need some urgent legal advice, ring round tomorrow and get a free initial appointment with a family solicitor and see what can be done

I cannot believe a man would leave his wife and children without money or food

Further than that I don''t know what to say and I am sure you will get some more advice from the other members of Wiki - afraid my post is a bit of a knee jerk reaction, but try not to worry

(((hugs)))
