What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I am starting the financial side following receipt of the Nisi, and my situation is that my ex is engaged and cohabiting (but not admitting to the cohabitation). I have 2 teenage children living at home. Does anyone know of any similar cases that may give some guidance as to what % split I should expect on the family home (which is the only real asset)? I am struggling to find any case law, although I suspect this is not really a rare situation. Any thoughts are examples gratefully received...

You need to post details of ages, incomes, all assets, length of marriage plus any cohabitation beforehand and children for anyone to comment.

Starting point is 50:50 for the total pot but then it moves based on need. Priority is housing everyone.
