What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

my stbx has not paid anything towards the joint debts. she has turned down mediation and is stalling in signing the divorce papers, she wants zero contact and says go through the solicitor. i have no money as i am paying off as much of the debt as possible so me and the kids have a roof over our heads (turned down for legal aid)how can i make her pay, she can afford it. she set a direct debit up to pay one of the loans then cancelled it the day before it was due. she owes £6500 of her share it the debts how can i sort this out. she has demanded £12000 or she is not going to do anything. there is not enough equity in the house for me to live anywhere else. she is already living debt free in a house with her new partner ( he stole his and his wifes saving to buy the house but let her keep the FMH)
