What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Do you need help sorting out a fair financial settlement?

Our consultant service offers expert advice and support to help you reach agreement on a fair financial settlement quickly, and for less than a quarter of the cost of using a traditional high street solicitor.

Advice would be appreciated!!!!

Hi, I have been trying to finalize my divorce now for what seems an eternity, I filed last May, went to mediation and finally moved out in January. Now my ex-wife says there is some discrepencies on the papers, she also says she needs to discuss access with her solicitor, as I told her we need to discuss me having my son for 2 nights on the weekends I have him ,as she says it's my duty to make the 1 hour round trip topick him up and drop him off, she will not meet me half way, bearing in mind I travel for my job sometimes I could be 4 hours away on a Friday, or get called out to work on a weekend which could also see me drive more than 4 hours, but apparently I am being unreasonable!!! The scenario is we had been married for under a year when she had an affair, she is stil seeing this fella, I satyed living in the property until the Consent Order was signed, having to pay every bill and not getting any contributions from her!! Does anyone else think I'm being unreasonable, or is just my ex-wife to be????

An hour round trip is not so very long. I wouldn't get stressed about it.

How are you able to have your son at the weekend if you are likely to be called out to work then, particularly if you are then likely to be away as long as you suggest? If I were your wife I would be much more concerned about that.

I agree 1 hour not long... when in the beginning my x2b was to have kids 1 weekend a month i was to meet half way of a 120 miles did it twice but he got frd up and not seen them since August... all for a few miles...whats more important seeing your kids or a bit of a drive..
dont make the same mistake as my x2b seems to have
