What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

i am about to exchange form E with stbx the cut off point for finances was 31st dec 2007. the week before the cut off point she got the CSA lowered by £40 a month even though she as been doing the same job for 8 months. she has now promised to pay for son driving lesson £22 a week. could i ask the questions
1. why didnt you drop the CSA when you started your new job?
i think this was to lose £40 a month and make my income look £40 a month greater
2. if she could afford to pay me extra why didnt she use that money to make a contribution to the marital debt?
3. if she could afford to pay extra for 8 months why cant she continue to pay the extra?
she had a car that did 50mpg now she drives a car that does 20mpg, she started buying clothes online as soon as the divorce proceedings started (i receive the e-mails confirming the orders), she is buying new furniture for the house that is in his name, taking holidays and having nights out, all of this is supposed to be paid by him, do you think that there is a scam going on?
going off my out going (gas elec shopping etc divide by 2) gives her approx £400 a month disposable income. do you think she might be on a scam for a better settlement or a lesser payment for AR
