What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Ancillary Relief Protocol
lawsociety.org.uk/documents/downloads/dynamic/flppart4.pdf
says
4.4.4 A copy of Form A must also be served by the solicitor on any pension provider where a pension sharing or an attachment order is sought.

It's not clear which/whose solicitor has the duty of making sure it goes to the pension provider?

The reality is that if say the H has the pension and W files Form A seeking pension adjustment order W solicitor should give notice as her client seeks such relief!

Thanks for that, Attila.
It seemed a bit lax just to rely on my ex.
My solicitor seems to have been morbidly afraid of the pension provider.
