What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Had my FDR today. Had pension reports ready and was willing to negotiate a deal based on equalisation of pension and 50/50 split of the home. Barristors exchanged info, My X wanted to keep house offset against my pension. I wanted as mentioned, 10 minutes to disagree, back to DJ for hearing. DJ stated FDR will not provide settlement ( 10 mins). Start final hearing procedure, directions given. I am out of pocket by £1750 and my X by about £2750. 27 years ++ of marriagem, no kids, the outcome usually always is 50/50 split. Why does my X resist so much and drain our monetary resources!. Really hacked off!!!

Hi, could I suggest that this would have been better written as a blog to get things off your chest; unless I am missing something you don't appear to be asking anything with which you want answers.

Sorry to hear that things seem to have cost you lots of money with little result.

Regards, Sarah
