What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

My ex seems to be advoiding financial settlement....we were due to go to mediaion regardng it and he claims no money to pay for it...my solicitor suggested voluntary exchange of form E still awaiting his reply.
He seems to think that we can just get divorced and thats the end of it.
I really dont know what to do as if i take him to court its going to cost 5k which is money i dont have...
We have a joint loan that he said through his solicitor he would pay half and now ive been having a debt collection agency phoning me asking for him...
Advise please?

You could self rep. I''m facing this problem also and I don''t fancy the cost or the self rep option. So annoying.
