What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi

due to get my settlement any day now after house sold - only taken 3 1/2 yrs to sort out

today i receive a letter from ex solictor who is handling sale to tell me my daughter claim i owe her 10k from 2005 - she got some compensation and spent the lot - within a short space of time - 3 holidays and cash handouts every week - was in my savings account.

Now solictor is threatneing to withold 10k from house sale proceeds.

No proof and cant even remember what account it came from.
surely its an entirely different matter if one at all and she cant legally hold funds.

my three daughters are not speaking to me due to house sale and have favoured their father through all this.

please help!!!!

Is the financial settlement a Court Order? If so, all parties need to abide by the Order - the other matter is separate.
