What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Inevitably .... our variation has been called in - 15 mins - the judge wants to check for psychosis?
Apparently it''s normal practice where one side [me] hasn''t paid for advice from a solicitor.
Absolutely dreading it - I want the judge to nod through what we''ve agreed but I''m not sure I can keep up the pretence that I believe what my ex is saying.
I can''t trust myself not to explode laughing at what he''s claiming about his finances and work prospects but the new deal depends on it looking right.
Will the questioning be tough and forensic?

To be quite honest you`ll probably find it a huge anti climax, this is standard when one partie is not represented so the judge is just really making sure you understand what you have agreed to, you may not even be in 15 minutes, just answer any questions but don`t waffle on, simple answers to simple questions, if you get stuck " i am happy with this agreement Sir/Your honor".

If as i suspect the judge does find you to be bonkers can you ask the padded room comes with wifi, we`d miss your posts.
