Consent Order - what to include? was created by rachy74
Obviously I'll be taking advice from my solicitor but this is more out of curiosity.. How much detail did you go into regarding the children and their costs. There's a fine line with my soon to be ex as he is much more amenable when he doesn't feel forced to do something. But at the same time I want to protect myself (and children) because they are still young but in the not too distant future there will be things like mobile phones, laptop, car/driving lessons, university fees (possibly) and so on. Should we include in the consent order how these should be split? He will have far more disposable income than me. He says we'll 'sort it at the time'. And part of my trusts him and part of me doesn't.

Also I am buying him out of the family home by selling a property I own, paying off the mortgage on the family home and taking out my own mortgage, but there are still a load of diy jobs that he has been promising to do but hasn't but says he will but doesn't seem to be making any effort to do them. Again, I think he means to but he isn't the most self-motivated person and I really feel my job isn't to nag him any more! Do we get these included into the consent order? ie once these jobs are done you will receive the money!!!

As I said I'd be taking legal advice so I'm more interest in people's opinions.

Trust that we'll have a good relationship going forwards or cover all options but risk him feeling put out/resentful?

Thank you

Child Maintenance only goes into a court order by agreement and either of you could choose to go via CMS after a year anyway so worth checking what that amount would be to give you an idea. Be very complicated to break it down into so much for mobile phones, so much for xxx the assessed amount is for everything.

It might be better to pay someone other than your ex to do the DIY jobs.
