What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi

My STBX is working with a divorce coach. I feel as though this has made the whole process far more adversarial.

I sent her my form E last week, and am highly suspicious that she has sent a copy to her divorce coach without my consent.
Under the family court rules:29.12(1) Except as provided by this rule or by any other rule or Practice Direction, no document or copy of a document filed or lodged in the court office shall be open to inspection by any person without the permission of the court, and no copy of any such document or copy shall be taken by, or issued to, any person without such permission.

Is there anything i can actually do if I believe that she has breached this rule?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Your STBX is allowed to share her copy of your form E with a person who is helping her with her case - whether that is a solicitor, barrister, financial advisor, mediator, actuary or, in this case, a divorce coach.

The people who should have access to these documents are:
- the court (including internal staff)
- each party in the case (and their advisors)

This rule is really saying that the document should not be distributed beyond those legitimately involved in the case.

For example:
- don't post it on facebook
- don't share it with random friends/family
- don't send it to HMRC or Local Council
