I am afraid I might have made a HUGE cockup and want to find out before I get any money paid to me because no way can I pay it back if I get it for months incorrectly.
When I got DLA I was told I was then eligible for working family tax credit if I worked over 16 hours which I did. I applied for it - and read very carefully the website and form, and it said maintenance did not have to be included ?? I then checked the other income and nothing that my ex gives comes under that either, so I applied, and was granted working tax credit with the disability element.
I dont know why but I started panicking about the maintenance and looked on the website again and to my horror see it says child maintenance. So do I have to declare what my husband pays for the mortgage now or not ?
Nothing is set officially - I have no idea how long this will go on anyway. The figures for tax credit are actually last year anyway arent they and I did query that when I applied as of course LAST year I was with him !! but they said the claim was in my name so it was only my income they wanted.
But now I am just terrified that it is wrong and I should have said ex pays the mortgage ?
What do I do ?? The first payment is due in on Friday. I am so relying on the money, and certainly cant afford anything with out that so am in even more of a stat eof panic here now.
Well that is how I understood it when I first applied, but on looking on the HMRC site here now, it says child maintenance so I am freaking out. Should I ring up or keep quiet. I need that money !!! I dont have savings or any other income at all.
That's just it though dolphin, Annie's children are adults now and her husband is paying the mortgage. Question is, is this classed as a form of maintenance for WTC purposes?
I would give them a call Annie to put your mind at rest. I know you say you need the money but to get it and then have to pay it back at a future date would put you in an even worse financial situation and cause you more stress.
HI i applied for child tax credits last week, and i had to read the form twice and then again re maintenance, however it definitely said do not include any maintenance payments.
Just wants you to declare your income and savings
dont panic your ok
