Does Income Support consider CSA payment as Income

Hi All,

Currently I am paying my wife £ 1100 (400 CSA, 700 SM)per month as periodic payment. Recently my wife became permanent in UK i.e. she is entitled to Income Support and housing benefits. Now my question is does Income support consider CSA payment as an income when they calculate how much my xtb should receive as weekly payment? or would IS people just consider spousal maintenance as income?

IS is paid without considering CM but under the current CSA scheme PWCs do not receive full CM payments as well as IS. This is because the Government deducts some of the money paid as CM to make up for the money the parent with care has received as benets.

I know that if your wife is in receipt of benefits (income support, housing beneftit etc.), the CSA payment will be considered in the calculations. If the benefits outweigh the CSA payments, the CSA may pay £10 per week to her. If the CSA amount you pay is more, then she can opt to receive that instead of the benefits. Hope this helps.

Hi, I can advise you that your wife will not be able to recieve Income Support owing to the amount of CM & SM that you are paying her. The CM alone will put her above the amount she can recieve and still receive Income Support.

As for Housing benefit, she may still be able to claim some of this but unlikely the full amount.

Is she in receipt of Child Tax Credits? They do not take CM into account when working out how much money you receive.

My xtb applied for IS and Housing benefit 2 months back, her sol said she is not receiving any IS, but she is quite on housing benefit. I strongly feel that her sol is hiding the fact that xtb is in receipt of housing benefit.

I contacted xtb council, but they refused to give me any information because it is xtb claim. Is there any way I can get to know how much she is receing as housing benefit and council tax benefit. I have my first appointment this friday.
