What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

So...last month I found out I've been overpaid by tax credits over £1000...scarey...will have to offer low-ish monthly repayments...
Anyway, as bf moved in with me we made a new claim which I called up about this morning..was told "oh yes your award has been made" and then proceeded to give me figures and payment dates...but I said "those payments sound too high...can you check my details?"..and lo and behold they have my partners income 2K less than it is!!! How the hell does this happen? I know I put his correct figures on the form as it was checked by the CAB and his accountant.
This is a nightmare....any other tax cred's horror stories?

They stopped our payments for 8 months after overpaying us. Turns out our eldest daughter who is 4 had been taken OFF the system!

I wanted to appeal but then all this happened and based on the fact I do all the work and my stbx will get all the money I decided not to bother persevering with it.

Why did they stop paying you?
Were you only getting the family element or something?
Wow..I'd be done for if they stopped payments!
