What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Any advice gratefully received.
Been married 24 years and now divorcing. We own a business together (limited company) Also have 3 children - boy 11, girls 7 & 3

Had to sell the family house last year to put money into save the business. Both now living in rented. Business is slowly improving but im not sure if it has a long term future.

I take a minimum income from the business (£7000 in 2012/2013) and so does he. We are then supposed to take dividends but the last couple of years we have not.

I would be grateful for any advice on the following -
what benefits i would be entitled to - child tax credit, housing benefit etc. Apologies as I am totally clueless regarding benefits

What his financial responsebilites are bearing in mind he also shows a minimum income. He is not that interested in the children (unless there is somebody to impress) and sees them maybe once a week.

Any advise would be greatfully received
