What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Do you need help sorting out a fair financial settlement?

Our consultant service offers expert advice and support to help you reach agreement on a fair financial settlement quickly, and for less than a quarter of the cost of using a traditional high street solicitor.

Bit cheeky but I've just rung the barrister's clerk who acted in that case. He told me that there was a posibility that it may go to the House of Lords but as yet the other party have not pursued that avenue.

The clerk told me that a judge should take the Appeal ruling as read but at the end of the day it was up to the judge.

Good for you!

IMVHO if you have decent assets go for the best you can get. Keep us posted.

In my case there is so little left in the house as we remortgaged to support a business that he then emptied that there is little point in my pursuing the "right" split in terms of the children.

I will keep you updated - I need to get on with the Ancillary Relief Hearing!

Why is my life so complicated! I just want a nice easy one! I feel like I have tried to do the right thing all for the past 2.5 years - kept the mortgage going when I should have just let it be reposessed. Financially supported my son when I could have just called on the State to support us. Instead I cannot get any benefits, legal aid or any support because I have tried to work! Its bloody not fair! Boo Hoo !!!!!!
