What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

Hi, my partner has just been made bankrupt today :(and we are in a bit of a muddle as to what happens next. He has not sorted out his divorce settlement with his s2bx but is it true that the OR will now take this part over. There are no dependant children and the matrimonial home has been sold and the money sat waiting for the FH. Will they go for a 50% share of this money to put towards the debts or will they take it all. Most of these debts have ocurred after he separated from his wife as she would not work and he had to pay all her living expenses and mortgage for 5 months and as he had nothing (only the clothes on his back)he has had to buy things to live on. He still has no permanent home as he was waiting for the outcome of the FH. He does not want his s2bx to be liable for anything he has run up since their separation. Any advice would be most welcome. At the moment I am in shock.

could'nt find anything on the web where the home has already been sold.

this may give you some advice but i'm pretty certain whatever he gets money wise it will have to go towards paying off his debts.
