I have a joint DMP with my STBX, however 80% of the debts are in my name. We are just starting the divorce process and as part of the separation of finances want to split the DMP so we each pay our own. However, I am concerned this may set a precedent for when the rest of the finances get sorted. Is this likely to be the case or should I press on?
Hi
I was at FH last July, and our DMP was split according to the names the debts were in.
The DMP was totally different from the pension share and the equity in the house.
I self-repped, my ex''s barrister made sure the DJ knew what DMP was during the hearing.
If you''re concerned about it, ask for the split to be done when everything else if finalised, but at my FH each element was dealt with on its own merit by the DJ.
