What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Do you need legal advice on a fair financial settlement?

We offer a consultation with experienced family solicitor for a low fixed fee. You will receive legal advice and a written report outlining your legal position and setting out what a fair settlement would look like based on your individual circumstances.

I am helping my brother with his divorce (high cost of solicitors?) His wife ran all the finance in the marital home and he had all wages paid into a joint account. he had a serious head injury and when he left hospital she kicked him out. problem being he does not know what money was in the house etc and due to memory loss does not remember. I helped him obtain copies of statements and can show 3 years of money being removed from the joint account into her name but she has declared no savings during mediation. is there some way of proving what she holds with out costly bills with a solicitor?

If the money was transferred into another account you will be able to ask her to show the associated bank Statements. It is pretty hard to hide money as one bank transfer leads to another account, unless of course she was withdrawing cash?
