What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Do you need help sorting out a fair financial settlement?

Our consultant service offers expert advice and support to help you reach agreement on a fair financial settlement quickly, and for less than a quarter of the cost of using a traditional high street solicitor.

Hi ,what starts amicably does turn nasty,be very careful what you sign,a seemingly simple letter I signed yesterday is proving to be a huge mistake.Everybody told me to get a solicitor which I did not want to do ,thinking we could work things out among ourselves, but where moey is concerned it does not work now I have got one but a lot of damage has been done.Good luck

Hi

Many thanks

First thing I did was appoint a solicitor. I know their is a cost but could end up saving a lot of money also (hopefully anyway). We do still get on fine however after her visit to her Solicitors on the 1st of April when she finds out how much she could get things may change! I'm hoping that after 25years without arguments we're not going to start now however I do realise once the £ signs start flashing things may change.

I have to keep thinking positive otherwise things will overwhelm me, that I have no control over.

I am now starting to see why the marriage rate in the UK is falling. For me it's never again.
