What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi

Draft Consent Order states " On the variation date which will be Feb 1013 periodical payments shall stand varied automatically. The change in payments will be the annual change if any between the RPI for 15 months before the date of variation and for 3 months before the variation date"

Can anyone give an example as to how this works .....I am confused.:blink:Where is the best place to find the RPI for specific dates?

Think I may have just got it!!!

can anyone confirm if I am right?

example :variation date 1st February 2012

15 months before =1st November 2010
3 months before = 1st Novemember 2011

So the change in RPI between 1st Nov 2010 to 1st Nov 2011 is the percentage increase to apply?

How do you find out what this is?

What are you trying to figure out? RPI is Retail Price Inflation. Its the amount items go up per year, and from your question it sounds as if this is tied to your agreement for SM?

By looking at what is written I am guessing your SM will go up by whatever inflation is. You can get this information on any website as they mention it frequently.
