What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Morning All.

Never realized how many of us Forces Wives there are out there all getting Divorced.

I Posted a couple of hours ago myself with P ension Qns.....

One thing that I do know for certain is that your Husbands are probably already signed up as a Member of the Forces Pension Society.
He will have a Card. Size of a Credit Card, which is black with a picture of a medal on the upper right hand side....

He will have a Membership No. & when he registered he would have been asked wether he was married or not.

Both of you should have cards infact.
My Hubby told them he was single...
I found this out when I rang them.
I then insisted they send me asap my own card...
I was fortunate as I knew his No. & could tell them this...

They are really helpful & v. quick to answer phone.

Also, ask them for a copy of their magazine which is free for members.
Don,t be fobbed off on that one though coz YES YES YES they do produce them.

I found it made v. interesting reading....
Mind you took weeks for card to arrive, by which time, amazingly enough, my H. found my card behind his in his wallet...

So far I''ve not had to use them yet coz its v. v. early days yet for me...
as H. wanted an amicable D.so long as I do /agree with everything he wants.....

I''ve only seen my Sol. twice as of yet.
Initial free consultation, then second time to try & sort out everything in the best interest for me....

As I Posted earlier I''ve not yet actually signed the Paperwork yet giving her permission to act on my behalf & she has sent me an email of the breakdown of the cost....Its the SIGNING that makes my stomach churn.....

However,my 1st Consutation which was free & is suppose to last for about 30min. lasted nearly 1 1/2hrs. Not that I realized it. Lots of cups of tea, endless tissues later & I left her.

When I realized how long I''d been there I was mortified.. £££££££££signs came up!!!

Oh OH what had I done was she going to Charge me for the extra time????

I emailed her staight away & she came back to tell me not to worry, there would be no charge...

Second visit, & I was slightly calmer, having had time to realize that he meant bus.
& I''d had time to "Get my head around it..."

Well, thats the theory any way..

Again she was great & i really felt that she was genuinely batting for me..

Next day she rang me & I also asked her to email all she was telling me coz my head was any where but sitting squarely on my shoulders.
& yes she did just that..

As I said she is great BUT thught I''d still like info. from the great &(thankfully calm )wiki team.

Its not even 08.30hrs yet.
I wonder what thoughts are going through the teams heads before theyv''e even sat down at their desks!!!!!!!

Hopefully I will get some great advise from them.

Morning HUGS to all.

PS earlier I said that I was feeling good. Went to bed for a few eyes shut eye. Woke not long later with YES you''ve guessed...
My stomach churning. Drinking cup of tea with apiece of toast sitting cold & not even bitten into at my side...
