What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Do you need help sorting out a fair financial settlement?

Our consultant service offers expert advice and support to help you reach agreement on a fair financial settlement quickly, and for less than a quarter of the cost of using a traditional high street solicitor.

Teacher pensions are based on years completed rather than amount contributed.

It is likely that a teacher CETV will be undervalued.

What type of pension do you have? If yours is money purchase then it will be very difficult to compare.

i personally gave up my australian pension and consentrated on building assets here.
my pension is now none existant.
my ex has 12 years service with a total contributions of £59300 i believe althou only £42000-£44000 & 8 years service was made while we were married so have no idea on what her pension CETV will be, had an agreement to offset 100% of her pension for £20000 in equity but think i might have been hasty ...
thank you for the prompt replys

Teachers is a defined benefit scheme, so the value is based on service complted, salary now and how old she is. Amount of contributions paid in is almost irrelevant.

her salary now is £31000 as she quit her(56,000-£60,000) deputy post once divorce came up, she''s now working in private sector and has no plans to return to paying into the TPS untill the Absolute is issued and the financials are signed and sealed by the court.
why do i feel i got outsmarted in a big way lol

Found out an aprox amount she would get if she retired today
£16,000 lump sum
£5600 per year final salary
Question is would this small of a pension hold any CETV value or am I just wasting my energy to try get it included in "the marital pot"?
