What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

hi all
i hope you dont think this is petty but would appreciate your views
as you know just got nisi on road to Ancil Relief very acrimonous divorce, locked out family bus, bank accounts frozen, etc
whilst driving home from taking kids school this am tyre blew on my 4x4 company car which ex hasnt taken off me yet!
i called out mobile tyre people end day £200 quid paid on credit card to replace and for call out.
Friendly tyre guy says all tyres are bald need replaced urgently and will be about £400!!
My response is to text ex and let him know! its his car, however i know this is going to be something else he will want to use over me to control me!!
I know i will have to get my sol to send his sol letter and try to agree he will pay!!!
I am soo sick of this begging for essentials, i need tyres to drive car to drive our kids it is undignified

This has been my approach for last yr beg via sol some he has paid others like kids uniforms he hasnt
His attitude at min seems to b that maintenance should cover all eventualities!! including emergencies. He is no longer paying into joint bank account and account is currently 9k overdrawn!
If i pay for tyres on credit card am i just giving in to hishis bullying and letting him away with things?

Should i just put myself in more debt take control of things and forget about begging? Or should I continue to ask him to pay for things and continue to get my sol to write letters about things like this and car tax and car insurance?

What wil the judge think about these instances? wil he penalise me if i dont approach my husband and ask him to pay?
Will he penalise me for getting into debt?
any ideas welcome

Either way you shouldn't be penalised for essential family expenditure. Getting sol to write letters about things like this isn't very cost effective and I would have thought it would be better all round to negotiate realistic maintenance payments. Sooner or later maintenance will need to cover all eventualities.
