What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

Hi there, my hubby and I have been together 3 years. We were both previously married. My husband''s ex wife still lives in the former matrimonial home (no kids from that marriage. It''s unlikely she will have dependents in the future). Their house has been off and on the market for the past few years. It''s a great house, but just hasn''t sold. They have a joint mortgage which she now covers (she has lodgers to help relieve this).
Here''s my question: We recently got a letter sent to our home, but addressed to my husband and former wife from the mortgage company stating, "Thanks for the recent phone call" and continuing to state that their assurance plan does not have the option to increase cover. I am just wondering why she would have made such a phone call and if there is anything to worry about on our end. We''re so praying for this house to finally sell so that we can stop renting and settle our kids into a stable home.

Thanks for insight.
