What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi Survive,

It will depend on which product you have and who you have it through as each Financial advisor will have their own fee structures and products available to them. Whoever you go with, shop around, meet with at least three advisors, I''d say and independent advisor, one linked to an estate agent and one linked to a bank. You will get a broad spectrum of products offered to you and you can compare which one suits you best.

If you want help with a mortgage or mortgage advice please PM me as I work in the industry.

xx

Thanks - i will need that soon for myself.

But I was asking because ex is saying that he has applied for mortgages and they have been refused (which is another story) but that he may be trying to charge me for their rejection of £3,500 each one (which is the cost, he is saying of arranging these mortgages!!!)

Hi
I''d be inclined to tell him to take a running jump....
It might be worth speaking to a financial advisor to clarify what happens when an application is rejected.

Without knowing who and what product is the same as asking how long is a piece of string.

Surely he has to provide proof of these alleged charges to support his application for you to pay anything.

Yes. I think they are trying to frighten me.

Basically they are on properties that have restrictions on, which I am trying to remove, as I put them on. What kind of idiot applies for mortgages on ''restricted'' properties without first checking they have been removed anyway. They are trying to say that because I haven''t removed them they will seek a court order against me and hit me for costs too which is 3,500 for each property
