What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I have been informed that if my wife gets custody of the children because she is part time she could get upto 70% of the equity am i able to get back the 20% when the youngest child is 18 so it then becomes 50/50 split,it seems unfair that she will gain by a large amount in a case were she was an adultress.:(

Many factors are taken into consideration when splitting assets. Wiki''s would need more info to be able to advice

e.g length of marriage including cohabitation
Your ages
No of children and ages
Assets including property, savings shares etc
Debts
Respective incomes

The financial settlement looks at needs and affordability, the reason for the marriage breakdown has no effect.
