Am I entitled to anything? was created by Waddy14
Hi all,

Me and my Husband separated over 12 months ago.

I left our marital home and started again with nothing, I am in a rented property and took nothing from the marital home.

The marital home is in my Husband’s and his Dad’s name. With this in mind am I correct in thinking I am not entitled to anything financial wise? We were married for 10 years when we separated and I paid towards the house for 12 years, paid for a new boiler, en-suite and have a £2000 Next account that was used to furnish the house.

We have 2 children together and have shared custody.

Any advice appreciated.

Thank you.

Sounds like your husband owns a share of the property.

His share will be a matrimonial asset and form part of the plot to be divided.

Thank you for the reply.

So am I entitled to 50% of 50% so to speak? His Dad has never contributed towards payment, was just on the mortgage for affordability reasons.

You need to post details of ages, incomes and all assets for someone to comment really.

Anything that is in your name, your ex's name or your joint names forms part of the pot to be split.

If a % of the fmh is in your ex's name that is included.
