What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi All,

Apologies if this has been asked before. I have been divorced for almost 8 years now. My X still lives at the property where we lived together which is rented from a Housing Association. My name is still on the Joint Tenancy Agreement which both of us would like to be removed and named solely to her. My X and I are still in good terms. The HA says this can not be done without a court order. Could someone please guide me as to how do i obtain a court order to have my name removed from the Joint Tenancy Agreement. And also the costs associated with it.

Many thanks in advance.

I think you can make an application for a transfer of tenancy. If you were married this can be part of a financial Consent Order.

Thanks for the reply.

My ex and I are still in good terms and as such have not sought a financial settlment, we both trust each other and have agreed whats hers is her vice versa. Was wondering if there is any other way of removing my name off the joint tenancy agreement.
