Divorce Negotiator was created by AC234
I saw an article in the Guardian at the weekend (www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2017/ja...-to-friendly-divorce) which mentions using a Divorce Negotiator. I wondered has anyone used this service and if so how did it go?

I haven't heard of a ' divorce negotiator ' although I can't see a problem why anyone going through divorce should not engage some help, though it's usually done through solicitors or mediators.

What qualifications do these people have though ? Any negotiator must be aware of the general principles of financial settlements.

I don't know if you are referring to ' collaborative law ' which is a
different matter altogether. Some years ago this was seen as the future, but there are potential disadvantages with it.

Ah yes... I read that article. Talk about rubbing salt in the wounds of those going through expensive acrimonious divorces.

I don't really see how the negotiator is any different from a solicitor who offers mediation. I guess they must offer a non biased view and are instructed by both parties. But I don't see why one couldn't achieve the same outcome through mediation if the parties are on reasonably good terms.

Buyer beware as usual, who are they?, are they insured?, legally qualified?, and on it goes.

Its not a protected term like police person, or doctor.
