What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

On the form in section 15 there are 2 boxes where they ask:)Has 1) A maintenance calculation been made under the CSA,or an pplication has been made but it has not yet been determined,or 2)has an agreement been reached in relation to child maintenance?

If you have a private mutual agreement with the respondent but have not yet made a Consent Order which box do you enter the details in?

Box 2 - state that you have a private mutual agreement that both parties are happy with, and there is no disagreement over CM.

I think legal forms and communication are written mainly in some strange language and designed to confuse the reader ;)

in the form d8a, under contact arrangements between children and non-resident parent, is it valid to put "none" or will this not be accepted?
