Respondent in divorce proceedings, Nisi was granted in January, no sign of my Ex having put in for the Absolute.
Calendar-wise, I''ve worked out that I can put in for the Absolute in the first week of June - but does the court write to me/Ex to advise us of that? Or do I have to rely on my own calendar?
And will I have to attend another hearing (the GOV.uk website
seems to suggest so) or is this just a paper exercise? Finances were resolved back in December/January with Consent Order filed at court following FA.
The court does not remind you - you have to rely upon your own calendar.
When the respondent applies for the DA, the hearing is listed ''on notice'' which means that you will have to attend court unless you obtain written consent from the petitioner
in which case the court can choose to deal with the matter on paper.
Petitioner has a habit of making things difficult ...
Can the court appearance go ahead without him? I''d have no problem attending, it''s local to me, but I can''t see him writing a letter of consent let alone schlepping across the country to attend court again.
