Online divorce was created by Jaynevicky
Hi, ex husband and I separated amicably, house sold and divided and have recently sorted out and agreed pension sharing and are now ready to divorce. Has anyone any experience of online divorce? and do I need a consent order?

JayneVicky,

Welcome to wikivorce and congratulations. :woohoo: You must be that odd 1% that manages to do it without a complete bun fight!

A consent order is essential for a 'clean break' as it effectively stops any future financial claims by one or other of you against the other. It is the last legal nail in the coffin of the marriage that was. However it is ESSENTIAL that both of you take independant legal advice as to the fairness of the consent order, as if you don't, one could cry 'foul!' at some time in he future, saying the agreement was not fair and applying for it to be set aside.

The often used example is that of a lottery win. If you were to win tonight, he might claim a share in it.

Online Divorce would work very well for a couple like yourself. All done, dusted and ready to move on. No loose ends, all tidy.

I am guessing that there are no children involved. If there are, you can never have a clean break, as child maintenance cannot be negotiated away in a consent order.

Wikivorce's own package deals might well suit your needs.

Hope it helps

Mike

Hi Mike,
There are no children involved. And we both went to a mediation session to agree pension sharing. Will give the consent order some serious thought before I go ahead.
Thanks for your advice.
