What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

What does it cost generally to go to mediation and what is the point of going if you know that your partner will not agree to whatever is suggested. In other words why not go straight to court and save on the cost of mediation in the first place.

I have been quoted £5000-£10000 for court costs. Has anyone done it cheaper?

Hi
No, I did not go for madiation becouse I did not expect my x to be fair by any means becouse he tried to cheat me on what I am intitled to. What I mean is that sol. fees cost me untill now( if we finish financial satlment by agreement and through solicitors only and without going to court) a bit more than 5000. Sol. said that if we did not resolve satlment by agreement and we need to go to court this will cost me more than 10000.
